Margot Robbie Elevates Vintage Galliano to New Heights in Wuthering Heights Promotion
Imagine Cathy donning red garters—while that might not have been acceptable in Emily Brontë’s era, Margot Robbie is ready to break the mold.
After revolutionizing the concept of a press tour with her standout fashion choices during the promotion of Barbie, it comes as no surprise that Robbie and her stylist, Andrew Mukamal, were prepared to deliver something extraordinary for the launch of Wuthering Heights. This dynamic duo has already collaborated with renowned designers such as Chanel, Thom Browne, and Schiaparelli to create looks reminiscent of Brontë’s literary world—or perhaps more accurately, styles that only echo her themes. However, their latest surprise is their most striking yet: an exceptional piece from the archives.
Specifically, they unearthed a stunning design from John Galliano's spring 1992 collection, a bold move that pays homage to fashion history while making a statement.
At the London photocall for Wuthering Heights, Robbie showcased this eye-catching ensemble. Imagine a fusion of Penny Lane's free-spirited vibe and the opulence of Empress Joséphine; Robbie wore a striking full-length toile coat adorned with soft pink shearling at the cuffs and neckline. Staying true to the original runway presentation, she paired it with a black micro miniskirt and a garter belt that held up vibrant red thigh-high stockings, which were elegantly tied with a pink ribbon.
The one significant departure from the runway look was her choice of footwear. Instead of opting for the fuller coverage, two-toned shoes worn by Helena Christensen in the “Napoleon and Joséphine” show, Mukamal selected a pair of custom Malonos for Robbie, featuring a delicate pale silver hue and pointed toes.
Much like the unconventional costumes featured in the film, Margot Robbie is embracing a creative approach in her promotional wardrobe.
