Breaking News: I-80 West is Back Open! After a nerve-wracking Thursday night for travelers, the vital I-80 West has been fully reopened near the West Branch area in Iowa. This is fantastic news for anyone who was stuck in traffic or had their travel plans disrupted!
According to Iowa 511, the roadway was back in action as of 9:27 p.m.
Earlier in the evening, the highway was completely blocked between Exit 259: County Road X40 and Exit 254: County Road X30, east of West Branch, due to a reported crash. This caused significant delays, as you can imagine.
But that wasn't the only issue. The left shoulder of I-80 West was also blocked between Exit 280: County Road Y30 and Exit 277: County Road Y26, west of the Walcott area, also because of a crash. Thankfully, this section was reopened around 10:50 p.m.
This situation highlights how quickly things can change on the road. Always check for the latest updates before you head out, and remember to drive safely!
