Brean Theme Park Liquidation: What It Means for Unity Holiday Park, Brean Play, Splash & Gym (2026)

In a surprising turn of events, Brean Theme Park has officially entered into liquidation. A recent announcement disclosed that liquidators were appointed just last week, marking a significant moment in the park's history.

Currently, the park is at what is termed the ‘Resolutions for Winding Up stage’. This means that the business must halt all trading activities, with the exception of those necessary to facilitate the winding-up process itself.

However, there's a silver lining for visitors and fans of the area: Brean’s other attractions, including Unity Holidays, Brean Splash, Brean Play, and Brean Gym, remain unaffected by this development. A representative reassured Burnham-On-Sea.com that these businesses continue to operate without interruption. "While Brean Theme Park leases land from Unity Holidays, it operates as an independent entity. Therefore, any issues concerning the theme park will not impact Unity Holidays or our resort at Unity Beach," they explained.

Visitors can look forward to the continuation of services at Brean Play, Brean Splash, and Brean Gym, which are set to re-open for the 2026 season, complete with numerous upgrades and enhancements as part of a sustained investment effort in the Unity Beach resort.

Burnham-On-Sea.com has also reached out to the distinct owner of Brean Theme Park for further comments on this situation.

Brean Theme Park has its roots dating back to the 1970s when plans for rides were first introduced, quickly becoming a beloved destination for holidaymakers and day-trippers alike.

The appointed liquidator, Nicholas Stafford from Hazlewoods LLP, will oversee the process of liquidating Brean Theme Park. This step is crucial for properly distributing the company's assets among shareholders and creditors. According to a notice published in The Gazette, liquidators were officially appointed on January 28th.

As of now, there has been no word on whether the park will face a permanent or temporary closure. The notice outlines, "NOTICE IS GIVEN that the following written resolutions of the above-named Company were passed on 28 January 2026 as a Special resolution and Ordinary resolution respectively: 1. That the Company be wound up voluntarily" and 2. "that Nicholas Stafford (IP No: 27270) of Hazlewoods LLP, Staverton Court, Staverton, Cheltenham, GL51 0UX be appointed Liquidator of the Company."

Typically, Brean Theme Park operates from March to October each year. Admission to the park is free, but various rides require credits that can either be bought within the park or in advance of a visit. Enthusiasts can find the advertised opening date for 2026 on the park’s website, which states it will welcome guests starting Saturday, March 14th.

Interestingly, some local tourism businesses have expressed concerns about declining trade and foot traffic over the past few years. They attribute this downturn to the nearby Pontins holiday park being utilized to house workers for EDF Hinkley Point instead of catering to holidaymakers.
